Synopsis:
Livie has always been the stable one of the two Cleary sisters, handling her parents' tragic death and Kacey's self-destructive phase with strength and maturity. She promised she would...and she’s done her best over the past seven years with every choice, with every word, with every action.

Livie walks into Princeton with a solid plan, and she’s dead set on delivering on it: Rock her classes, set herself up for medical school, and meet a good, respectable guy that she’s going to someday marry. What isn’t part of her plan are Jell-O shots, a lovable, party animal roommate she can’t say ‘no’ to, and Ashton, the gorgeous captain of the men’s rowing team. Definitely him. He’s an arrogant ass who makes Livie’s usually non-existent temper flare and everything she doesn’t want in a guy. Worse, he’s best friends and roommates with Connor, who happens to fits Livie’s criteria perfectly. So why does she keep thinking about Ashton?

As Livie finds herself facing mediocre grades, career aspirations she no longer thinks she can handle, and feelings for Ashton that she shouldn’t have, she’s forced to let go of her last promise to her father and, with it, the only identity that she knows.

My Thoughts:

“Life has a funny way of creating its own tests. It throws curve balls that make you do and think and feel things that are in direct conflict with what you had planned and don't allow you to operate in terms of black and white.”

Livie Cleary had her life planned out. She was going to Princeton, studying to be a doctor with a specialization in kids, and most of all....she was going to make her parents proud, even if they weren’t still alive to see it.

What she didn’t plan on was her sister’s incessant meddling, her sister’s shrink pouring doubts into her head, and she most definitely didn’t plan on the drunken night she doesn’t quite remember with the hottest guy on campus.

One Tiny Lie is the phenomenal follow up to my beloved Ten Tiny Breaths. I was anxious to get a hold of this book, but at the same time, wasn’t sure that it could match up. That perhaps, Livie’s story couldn’t be as interesting as Kacey’s. All of these fears were completely groundless.

Livie’s story is very different from Kacey’s, because she is different, but it is no less impactful. Though she was the strong, quiet one in Ten Tiny Breaths, the steady to Kacey’s chaos, in this book we find that the person she has suppressed deep, deep down is not quite the person she thought she was. One Tiny Lie is a story about finding yourself, taking control your own life, against everything standing in your way....especially when it is your own fear that is stopping you.

Throughout the novel we see Livie opening herself up and questioning herself and where she is taking her life, even though it is a painful journey. And Ashton? The hottest guy on campus? The gorgeous man who somehow ends up waking up naked in her dorm room with her nickname tattooed on his fine rear? He is definitely keeping her on her toes and twisting her into knots. Ashton has is own story that is just as moving and surprising. The way their journeys intertwine will surprise you, move you, and leave you with bated breath, hoping for their happily ever after.

The Final Verdict:

One Tiny Lie is a beautifully written story that made me laugh, made me cry, made me hope, and by the end, made me feel a soul deep contentment. K.A. Tucker has written yet another fantastic novel that sucks you in and just makes you invested and a part of every page. By the end, it is YOUR own happily ever after that was earned and I am so thankful for that incredibly rare experience.
