He's So Fine (Lucky Harbor #11) by Jill Shalvis
Publication Date: September 30th, 2014
Publisher: Grand Central Publishing
Genre: Adult Contemporary Romance
Synopsis:
For Olivia Bentley, Lucky Harbor is more than the town where she runs her new vintage shop. It's the place where folks are friendly to strangers-and nobody knows her real name. Olivia does a good job of keeping her past buried, not getting too cozy with anyone . . . until she sees a man drowning. Suddenly she's rushing into the surf, getting up close and personal with the hottest guy she's ever laid hands on.

Charter boat captain Cole Donovan has no problem with a gorgeous woman throwing her arms around his neck in an effort to "save" him. In fact, he'd like to spend a lot more time skin-to-skin with Olivia. He's just not expecting that real trouble is about to come her way. Will it bring her deeper into Cole's heart, or will it be the end of Olivia's days in little Lucky Harbor?

* * * * * * * EXCERPT * * * * * *

“Dry off,” Cole said, and stepped back from Olivia.

She nodded but didn’t move.

“Olivia?” he asked.

Her face was a mask of misery. “Mmmy arms won’t wwwork.”

Shit. He quickly and gently pushed her back down to the bench, sat at her side, and began to pile blankets over the top of them both.

“Wwhat are you ddoing?”

“Sharing my body heat,” he said.

“I cccan’t feel any hhheat.”

“You will.” Beneath the blankets, he reached for the towel she still had wrapped around her. “Don’t freak,” he warned. “I’m just going to remove the wet towel and pull you into me.”

She opened her mouth, but using her sluggishness to his benefit, Cole quicklystripped the towel away from her, wrapping his arms around her, pulling her into him as two things happened simultaneously. One, she squeaked. Probably trying to formulate her next threat.

And two—holy shit—he realized she was completely, totally, one hundred percent naked beneath the layer of blankets.

And pissed. “Yyyour pants!” she gasped. “Thththey’re cccold!”

“Sorry, but I’m trying to do the right thing here,” he said through clenched teeth. Jesus. He couldn’t see a thing below her neck, but he could sure as hell feel her. His hands were on her hip and low on her back, respectively, not touching anything he shouldn’t be, but damn she was soft, and at the feel of her, his brain clicked off. Just completely flatlined.

And now....my review!

*Spoiler-Free* REVIEW: He's So Fine by Jill Shalvis
Publication Date: September 30th, 2014

*DISCLOSURE: ARC was provided in exchange for a fair and honest review

Review:

When reviewing a Jill Shalvis novel, and especially, when reviewing a Lucky Harbor novel, I feel like a broken record in singing her praises. But there's a very good reason for this. Jill Shalvis is one of the most consistently talented and delightful writers I have EVER had the pleasure of reading. She creates stories full of joy, humor, and oh, so much heart. He's So Fine, the second to last Lucky Harbor full length novel, is no exception to the rule.

Just acknowledging that the end is near is painful to me. I won't ever say goodbye to Lucky Harbor or its residents. Knowing that this is near end, I had very high expectations going into this novel, as was not disappointed.

Olivia Bentley was the child star everyone loved, until they didn't. Thrown aside by those closest to her, when she needed help the most, Olivia is very much used to being disposable. She's the one who has never been put first. An escape to Lucky Harbor gives her the opportunity to start over without the clouds of her past looming overhead.

When she meets Cole Donovan, a man who is tormented by a past shattered by lies, a man who rigidly values honesty above all else, her world gets turned upside down. And as their casual relationship starts turning into more, the storm of her withheld past comes rolling in.

This book starts with a phenomenal meet-cute where we are hit with Olivia and Cole's off the charts chemistry. That chemistry carries us through the novel while being layered in with genuinely lovable characters and some heart-tugging moments. (Psst, you will also get to meet the heroine of the last Lucky Harbor novel.)

All in all, this was another wonderful installment of the Lucky Harbor series. Don't miss out on this one.

*REVIEW* Rachel Harris's THE FINE ART OF PRETENDING

This awesome book is coming out tomorrow and I feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to read this book in advance! Check out my review and then pre-order!

The Fine Art of Pretending (The Fine Art of Pretending #1) by Rachel Harris
Publication Date: September 30th, 2014
Genre: Young Adult Contemporary Romance
Synopsis:
According to the guys at Fairfield Academy, there are two types of girls: the kind you hook up with, and the kind you're friends with. Seventeen-year-old Alyssa Reed is the second type. And she hates it. With just one year left to change her rank, she devises a plan to become the first type by homecoming, and she sets her sights on the perfect date—Justin Carter, Fairfield Academy’s biggest hottie and most notorious player.

With 57 days until the dance, Aly launches Operation Sex Appeal and sheds her tomboy image. The only thing left is for Justin actually to notice her. Enter best friend Brandon Taylor, the school’s second biggest hottie, and now Aly’s pretend boyfriend. With his help, elevating from “funny friend” to “tempting vixen” is only a matter of time.

But when everything goes according to plan, the inevitable “break up” leaves their friendship in shambles, and Aly and Brandon with feelings they can’t explain. And the fake couple discovers pretending can sometimes cost you the one thing you never expected to want.

And now for my review:
*Spoiler-Free* REVIEW: Fine Art of Pretending by Rachel Harris
Publication Date: September 30th, 2014

*DISCLOSURE: ARC was provided in exchange for a fair and honest review

My review:
I love the stories of girl and guy best friends that turn into more. I love the transformation stories (I did grow up in the time of Clueless and She's All That, after all) when they're done right. I love the pretend love interest story.

Well, lucky, lucky me? This book has all of the above. Rachel Harris has not only done these genres right, but she also wrote them in such a unique and utterly charming way that I am declaring this my favorite of her books to date.

Some may argue that the female transformation story sends a bad message. If you feel this way upon reading this book, I suggest you look a little closer. What you will see, upon that inspection is the story of Aly, a young girl who wants to see how the popular, carefree girl lives. What she discovers is a case of the grass always being greener, the discovery of some truths about herself, and the comfort in finding a middle ground.

This is a young adult romance, and yes, Brandon is absolutely swoon worthy. In fact, he is swoon worthy enough to make any creepy feelings this 30 year old reviewer has melt away into the oblivion as a non-issue. But it is also an exploration into a girl learning to love herself as well. And that's a beautiful thing.

Expect a lighthearted tale full of laughs and cute moments abound, a wonderful cast of loveable and love-to-dislike them characters, and a cleverly laid out narrative told in the frame of a countdown to homecoming. I cannot wait to see what the next book in the series will bring. In fact, I'm starting my own personal countdown right now.

Rachel Harris grew up in New Orleans, where she watched soap operas with her grandmother and stayed up late sneak reading her mama’s favorite romance novels. Now a Cajun cowgirl living in Houston, she still stays up way too late reading her favorite romances, only now, she can do so openly. She firmly believes life’s problems can be solved with a hot, powdered-sugar-coated beignet or a thick slice of king cake, and that screaming at strangers for cheap, plastic beads is acceptable behavior in certain situations.

When not typing furiously or flipping pages in an enthralling romance, she homeschools her two beautiful girls and watches reality television with her amazing husband. *COVER REVEAL* Cora Carmack's INSPIRE

The fabulous Cora Carmack is getting ready to break into the Paranormal genre with a book so intriguing, so unique, I'm practically foaming at the mouth to get my hands on it. A modern day take on the Greek muses? YES. PLEASE.

Without any further ado, here is the cover reveal:

Inspire by Cora Carmack
Genre: New Adult Paranormal Romance
Expected Publication Date: December 15th, 2014

Kalliope lives with one purpose.

To inspire.

As an immortal muse, she doesn’t have any other choice. It’s part of how she was made. Musicians, artists, actors—they use her to advance their art, and she uses them to survive. She moves from one artist to the next, never staying long enough to get attached. But all she wants is a different life— a normal one. She’s spent thousands of years living lie after lie, and now she’s ready for something real.

Sweet, sexy, and steady, Wilder Bell feels more real than anything else in her long existence. And most importantly… he’s not an artist. He doesn’t want her for her ability. But she can’t turn off the way she influences people, not even to save a man she might love. Because in small doses, she can help make something beautiful, but her ability has just as much capacity to destroy as it does to create. The longer she stays, the more obsessed Wilder will become. It’s happened before, and it never turns out well for the mortal.

Her presence may inspire genius.

But it breeds madness, too.

Things are about to get Wicked in New Orleans.

Twenty-two year old Ivy Morgan isn’t your average college student. She, and others like her, know humans aren’t the only thing trolling the French Quarter for fun… and for food. Her duty to the Order is her life. After all, four years ago, she lost everything at the hands of the creatures she’d sworn to hunt, tearing her world and her heart apart.

Ren Owens is the last person Ivy expected to enter her rigidly controlled life. He’s six feet and three inches of temptation and swoon-inducing charm. With forest-green eyes and a smile that’s surely left a stream of broken hearts in its wake, he has an uncanny, almost unnatural ability to make her yearn for everything he has to offer. But letting him in is as dangerous as hunting the cold-blooded killers stalking the streets. Losing the boy she loved once before had nearly destroyed her, but the sparking tension that grows between them becomes impossible for Ivy to deny. Deep down, she wants… she needs more than what her duty demands of her, what her past has shaped for her.

But as Ivy grows closer to Ren, she realizes she’s not the only one carrying secrets that could shatter the frail bond between them. There’s something he’s not telling her, and one thing is for certain. She’s no longer sure what is more dangerous to her—the ancient beings threatening to take over the town or the man demanding to lay claim to her heart and her soul.

REWIND: top ten authors I own the most books of....

Hi lovelies!! I've never actually participated in Top Ten Tuesdays from the fabulous Broke and Bookish not because I haven't wanted to...no trust me, I look on with envy every. single. week. But alas, my lack of organization and desire to take photos of everything get in my way.

With that being said...don't laugh at me, but I'm doing a Top Ten Tuesday topic from WEEKS ago. =)

HERE ARE MY TOP TEN AUTHORS that I own the MOST BOOKS OF (in ascending order)!

(Note: this does not include e-books or duplicate copies)

10th - TIED:
Christina Lauren - 7 Books! - Steamy, funny, oh so sexy, and delightful! That's right! I'm talking about Christina Hobbes and Lauren Billings! Their books are pretty fantastic as well...

Colleen Hoover - 7 Books (+ 4 duplicates) - Colleen Hoover, to me, is synonymous to an overabundance of FEELS.  LOVE. THIS. WOMAN!! I'm just missing Finding Cinderella!! Then my collection will be complete! Isn't it neat? (please excuse my Little Mermaid influenced delusional blogging)

9th - J.K. Rowling - 10 Books - Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light. Harry. Potter. Nuff said.

3rd/4th - Jennifer L. Armentrout - 20 Books (2 are not pictured) (+ 3 duplicates) - JLA....can she be my spirit animal? I don't think I fully comprehend what that means, but I just want her around forever and writing me more books featuring kick ass heroines (whether they literally or figuratively kick ass) and swoon-worthy heroes of god-like stature (seriously...some of them have god ancestry! READ THE COVENANT SERIES!!!) And don't even get me started on her new Dark Elements series....ROTH! The sexiest demon on this (or that) side of Hell.

*MY ONE FAVORITE MOMENT* K.A. Tucker's Ten Tiny Breaths Series - Top 10 Quotes + #GIVEAWAY

If you have been around my blog before, then you probably know this about me, but as a refresher...K.A. Tucker and her Ten Tiny Breaths series are just about two of my favorite things ever. EVER.

I am really honored to be a part of this tour to share with you my favorite moments of the series, but at the same time, how can I possibly express in words and in one post everything that this series has meant to me?

I really, truly can't. Ten Tiny Breaths was one of the very first New Adult novels that I read and one of the first eARCs given to me as a blogger. I didn't know what to expect and I certainly didn't expect to have this one book rip out my heart, engage my entire being, and carefully put me back together again, along with the characters of this beautiful, beautiful book. And with each subsequent novel? K.A. Tucker thrilled and amazed (and broke and mended) me with characters so different, yet equally amazing. While each book stands alone, when read as a whole, you become immersed as part of the family....and that is truthfully what these books have become to me. Family that I will revisit again and again.

Before I recap all of the books and the giveaway, I thought it would be fun to share TEN of my favorite quotes from the series. They are SPOILER FREE for those of you who have not yet read the series, but be fully prepared to have them tease you into grabbing these up right away!!
* * * * * * * My TEN favorite Quotes * * * * * *

“No way a guy who’s been in there wouldn’t be bothered watching someone else stick his tongue in your mouth.”
“I think you should send that straight to Hallmark.” - Five Ways to Fall

"You’re not my type."
I’ve heard this before and I don’t believe her. Hell, I’m everyone’s type! Eventually. - Five Ways to Fall

"Have you always loved yourself this much?”
“I had an awkward year in ‘ninety-nine, but I got over it quick." - Five Ways to Fall

"I believe some people are inherently evil. I believe guilt is a powerful motivator. I believe redemption is something you can strive for but never fully achieve. I believe second chances exist only in dreams, never in reality. I believe you don’t have years, or months, or weeks to impact a person’s life. You have seconds. Seconds to win them over, And seconds to lose them." - Four Second to Lose

"She’s the woman who stole my heart right out from me before I even realized she had her hands on it." - Four Second to Lose

"The only thing I regret is that it ever ended. And I’m the one who’s jealous. Insanely so." - One Tiny Lie

"Because you're not a one-night girl, Irish." Leaning in to place a kiss on my jawline, he whispers, "You're my forever girl." - One Tiny Lie

"You said you wanted to forget everything. But...I don't want you to ever forget a thing that happened between us. Ever." The most gentle of smiles passes over Ashton's face. "Irish, if there's one thing I've never been able to forget, it's single second with you." - One Tiny Lie

"Give me your heart, Kacey. I'll take everything that comes with it." - Ten Tiny Breaths

"Just breathe. Ten tiny breaths … Seize them. Feel them. Love them." - Ten Tiny Breaths

Ten Tiny Breaths

Kacey Cleary’s whole life imploded four years ago in a drunk-driving accident. Now she’s working hard to bury the pieces left behind—all but one. Her little sister, Livie. Kacey can swallow the constant disapproval from her born-again aunt Darla over her self-destructive lifestyle; she can stop herself from going kick-boxer crazy on Uncle Raymond when he loses the girls’ college funds at a blackjack table. She just needs to keep it together until Livie is no longer a minor, and then they can get the hell out of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

But when Uncle Raymond slides into bed next to Livie one night, Kacey decides it’s time to run. Armed with two bus tickets and dreams of living near the coast, Kacey and Livie start their new lives in a Miami apartment complex, complete with a grumpy landlord, a pervert upstairs, and a neighbor with a stage name perfectly matched to her chosen “profession.” But Kacey’s not worried. She can handle all of them. What she can’t handle is Trent Emerson in apartment 1D.

Kacey doesn’t want to feel. She doesn’t. It’s safer that way. For everyone. But sexy Trent finds a way into her numb heart, reigniting her ability to love again. She starts to believe that maybe she can leave the past where it belongs and start over. Maybe she’s not beyond repair.

But Kacey isn’t the only one who’s broken. Seemingly perfect Trent has an unforgiveable past of his own; one that, when discovered, will shatter Kacey’s newly constructed life and send her back into suffocating darkness.

     **My Review**

One Tiny Lie
Livie has always been the stable one of the two Cleary sisters, handling her parents' tragic death and Kacey's self-destructive phase with strength and maturity. But underneath that exterior is a little girl hanging onto the last words her father ever spoke to her. “Make me proud,” he had said. She promised she would...and she’s done her best over the past seven years with every choice, with every word, with every action.

Livie walks into Princeton with a solid plan, and she’s dead set on delivering on it: Rock her classes, set herself up for medical school, and meet a good, respectable guy that she’s going to someday marry. What isn’t part of her plan are Jell-O shots, a lovable, party animal roommate she can’t say ‘no’ to, and Ashton, the gorgeous captain of the men’s rowing team. Definitely him. He’s an arrogant ass who makes Livie’s usually non-existent temper flare and everything she doesn’t want in a guy. Worse, he’s best friends and roommates with Connor, who happens to fits Livie’s criteria perfectly. So why does she keep thinking about Ashton?

As Livie finds herself facing mediocre grades, career aspirations she no longer thinks she can handle, and feelings for Ashton that she shouldn’t have, she’s forced to let go of her last promise to her father and, with it, the only identity that she knows.

Four Seconds to Lose

Owning a strip club isn’t the fantasy most guys expect it to be. With long hours, a staff with enough issues to keep a psych ward in business, and the police regularly on his case, twenty-nine year old Cain is starting to second guess his unspoken mission to save the women he employs. And then blond, brown-eyed Charlie Rourke walks through his door, and things get really complicated. Cain abides by a strict “no sleeping with the staff” rule. But being around Charlie challenges Cain’s self-control…and it’s been a long time since any woman has done that.

Twenty-two-year old Charlie Rourke needs a lot of money, really fast, in order to vanish before it’s too late. Taking her clothes off for men makes her stomach curl but Charlie tells herself that at least she’s putting her acting and dancing skills to good use. And though her fellow dancers seem eager to nab their sexy, sophisticated, and genuinely caring boss, she’s not interested. After all, Charlie Rourke doesn’t really exist—and the girl pretending to be her doesn’t need to complicate her life with romance.

Unfortunately, Charlie soon discovers that developing feelings for Cain is inevitable, that those feelings may not be unrequited—but losing him when he finds out what she’s involved with will be more painful than any other sentence awaiting her.

Five Ways to Fall

Sometimes you can’t change—and sometimes you just don’t want to. Discover Ben’s side of the story in this fourth novel by the beloved, top-selling indie author of Ten Tiny Breaths, One Tiny Lie, and Four Seconds to Lose.

Purple-haired, sharp-tongued Reese MacKay knows all about making the wrong choice; she’s made plenty of them in her twenty-odd-years. So when her impulsive, short-lived marriage ends in heartbreak, she decides it’s time for a change. She moves to Miami with the intention of hitting reset on her irresponsible life, and she does quite well…aside from an epically humiliating one-night stand in Cancun with a hot blond bouncer named Ben. Thank God she can get on a plane and leave that mistake behind her.

Football scholarship and frat parties with hot chicks? Part of charmer Ben Morris’s plan. Blown knee that kills any hope of a professional football career? So not part of the plan. Luckily Ben has brains to go with his knockout looks and magnetism. After three long years of balancing law school with his job as a bouncer at Penny’s Palace, he’s ready to lead a more mature life—until his first day of work, when he finds himself in the office of that crazy, hot chick he met in Cancun. The one he hasn’t stopped thinking about.

If Ben truly were a smart guy, he’d stay clear of Reese. She’s the boss’s stepdaughter and it’s been made very clear that office romances are grounds for dismissal. Plus, rumor has it she’s trouble. The only problem is, he likes trouble, especially when it’s so good-looking…

In Her Wake

Before you knew him as Trent in Ten Tiny Breaths, he was Cole Reynolds—and he had it all. And then one night he makes a bad choice... and loses everything.
Cole Reynolds had it all. And then one night he makes a bad choice... and loses everything.

When a drunken night out at a Michigan State college party results in the death of six people, Cole must come to terms with his part in the tragedy. Normally, he'd be able to lean on his best friends. The best friends that have been in his life since he could barely walk. Only, they're gone. Worse, there's the shattered body of a sixteen-year-old girl lying somewhere in a hospital bed, her entire life ripped from her because of a case of beer and a set of keys.

Everyone assures him that they know it wasn't intentional and yet he can't ignore the weight of their gazes, the whispers behind his back. The all-consuming guilt he feels every time he thinks of that girl who won't so much as allow him near her hospital room to apologize. As the months go by and the shame and loneliness festers, Cole begins to lose his grip of what once was important-college, his girlfriend, his future. His life. It's not until Cole hits rock-bottom that he can begin to see another way out of his personal hell: forgiveness.

And there's only one person who can give that to him...
