While I’ve fooled around with a bridesmaid or two in my day when we played gigs at weddings, I don’t recall ever hooking up with a girl I actually knew or one who was friends with my ex. He was the cocky yet protective guy with the perpetual smile on his face. He was the good time guy, and I couldn't wait to meet the woman who would finally bring him down. Who knew he would meet this woman on a drunken disaster of a night in Cancun!\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EEnter Reese. She's the girl with a wild side and a, fortunately, sealed Juvie record. When her husband of less than a year cheats on her with his ex, divorces her, then marries said ex, Reese gets a little creative with a lot of red paint and the ex's belongings. With no where to turn, she calls her Mother's lawyer ex-husband to help bail her out. What he gives her at the same time as her freedom, is the chance to start over as a paralegal at his law firm. Little does she know, Ben passed the bar and he's starting at the same firm.\u0026nbsp; \u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe banter, sexual tension and pure vivacity of these characters is off the charts. I will admit I had very very high expectations of this book. This is the last of one of my favorite series ever. And once again, K.A. Tucker did not disappoint. All of the characters, from the main couple, to the friends, to the people you love to hate, all jump off the page to make you laugh, feel, and LOVE.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe story was a bit atypical in regards to the a rather common arc. There wasn't a big overblown\/overdone climax of the \"they can't be together any more until that big aha moment\" variety. No, the story is about much more than that. It is about love and family and what it means to be there for someone else. That is not to say that there aren't very big moments in the novel, it's just that the story is so well rounded that it's not just about the couple's togetherness status. And that is an entirely refreshing change.  \u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EDon't worry if you haven't read the whole series, because each installment can very much be read as a standalone, but trust me...you won't want to stop with just one. \u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Ci\u003EFive Ways to Fall \u003C\/i\u003Ewas the deliciously sweet, refreshingly earnest, and satisfying conclusion to this amazing series. I'll be happily reaching for additional helpings again and again without tiring of it. It’s not because I can’t hit a note if my life depended on it. And it’s not because I can’t play a guitar,” I say, layering in a pause for effect. “It’s because I can’t stand being in a car for more than one hour. It would make me crazy having to drive all over this country from gig to shining gig.” \u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EChris laughs, then tucks a strand of my hair back behind my ear. “You’re funny, McKenna.”  \u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EI’m funny. He says I’m funny. I feel like Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer when Clarice tells him he’s cute. Rudolph scampers off, joyous and happy, shouting, “She thinks I’m cute! She thinks I’m cute!” \u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EI could so fall in love with him. I could fall in love with him in a heartbeat. He brings his other hand to my waist, and pulls me in close. He’s seated on the bar stool, and I’m standing as I slide into the V between his legs, his firm thighs now on either side of me. The distance between us narrows, and the temperature rises. Like this, with him so close, I can tell how much he wants me. As much as I want him. I am turned on beyond belief, my skin is so hot, and my body is aching all over with the need to be touched, and he knows it. And just like that, the mood between us here at Circa Rose shifts. It’s no longer flirty, or chatty, or get to know you. We’re no longer a guy and girl confessing to crushes and likes. As he plays with the waistband of my skirt, his hand dipping inside, stroking the bare skin of my hips just above my panties, we are a man and a woman who want to get the hell out of here. All the cabbies in the world have this special alert to show up quickly when a guy really needs to be alone with his woman.” \u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EI start to laugh, but my laughter is smothered by his lips on mine, and soon I’m grabbing at his shirt, and he’s cupping the back of my head, and we are a fevered picture of two people who can’t get enough of each other. Then the cab stops, Chris pays, and we’re at the door of a three-story brick office building that’s dark except for one light in the lobby. \u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E“This isn’t where you shoot your show, right?” I ask as he fishes in his pocket for the keys. My hands toy with the waistband of his jeans.  \u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EHe shakes his head. “No. The network’s over in the Dogpatch, near the other TV shows shot in town. This is just a tiny little studio for pick-ups, promos, quickies.” He winks at the last word as he unlocks the door and holds it open for me. \u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EUsing his cell phone for light, we walk quickly up a darkened stairwell, then Chris pushes open a heavy door that leads into a short hallway. He flicks on the light switch. At the end of the hall is a door with a white lacquered sign that reads Fish Out of Water Studios.  \u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E“Clever name,” I remark. \u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E“Like a band name,” he replies as he opens that door and turns on the light. The space is split in two by a glass window. The studio itself is beyond the glass and it’s tiny – but even in the dark I can tell it has a green screen on one wall, a camera, and lights. We’re in the waiting area and there’s a desk with a desk calendar, a computer and pens, and the aforementioned couch. \u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EBut we don’t make it to the couch.
