Without further ado....please enjoy this EXCLUSIVE deleted scene and get to know Grant a little better with this peek into his past!

Deleted Scene: Grant in High School

“Excuse me, Mrs. Aberdeen? May I have a library pass for lunch today?”

“Again, Mr. Hardwick? You’ve already gone three times this week? You’re a growing boy! You should be eating everything in sight, not playing on those computers every day at lunch.”

I smiled, playing it off as no big deal while I prayed my rumbling stomach didn’t choose now to act up. Mrs. Aberdeen meant well, but I just couldn’t afford for her to start poking her nose into my home life.

“I’m just working on a big extra credit project for Mr. Matthews’ class. Trust me, I’ll have a double dinner when I get home tonight.”

The older woman smiled at me while considering whether or not to buy the bullshit I was selling. I couldn’t afford lunch. She knew it and I knew it. But I needed her to go along, so I tried once more. I leaned in close and whispered in her ear. “And don’t tell that stick-in-the-mud librarian, but I’ve got a couple of protein bars I plan on scarfing down while I’m in there too!”

I pulled back and winked at her, handing her my pass to sign. My smile was confident, but on the inside I was anything but. I needed to get to those computers and make some money, or they’d turn off the power again. I could live without the hot water and having our phone shut off, but without electricity I couldn’t keep the dollar pizzas and burritos frozen and doing homework by candle light was a fire hazard waiting to happen. Besides, dealing with dad when he couldn’t watch the game on TV or if he was out of beer.

I entered the library and immediately headed for the back corner. Over the past six months, word had spread about my…services, and this corner had sort of become my office. I hated doing this shit, but desperate circumstances gave way to immoral actions. I had one year left, and as soon as I graduated, I vowed I’d never do this again. That vow allowed me to push the guilt down, at least for a little while.

I slid into the hard plastic chair and booted up the old computer that no one ever used in the back of the library. It was a piece of crap, but I’d spent hours reprogramming the computer until only an expert hacker could unravel that tangled web I weaved.

While I was booting up and logging in to my secure and encrypted server, I could hear footsteps approaching me from behind. I didn’t keep appointments, but people always knew how to find me. I didn’t draw attention in case it was a teacher rather than a client, but it was unlikely way back in the encyclopedia section that hadn’t been updated since the 70’s. Kids weren’t going to spend time looking up information when Wikipedia was so much more convenient.

The next thing I knew, long tan legs were straddling either side of my chair. Summer Greenly popped up on the desk in front of me, smiling slyly and brushing her long, blonde hair over her shoulder.

Well this was an interesting change of pace. Summer was one of the most popular girls in school, head cheerleader, and was an honor roll student. She was not my usual clientele, so why was she here?

“Hey, Grant. I was hoping I’d find you here.”

“Oh yeah? Why’s that, Summer?” I scooted back, forcing her to drop her legs off of my chair. I wasn’t going to allow her to use her killer good looks to sway me. Yeah, she was sexy as hell, but I needed money, not a girlfriend.

“Well, I was hoping you could help me out with something.” She leaned forward, pushing her ample breasts together toward me. “You can help out with grades, right? Like, if someone needed a…boost?”

I licked my lips, imagining what else I could be licking as she spoke. No, I need to stay focused. I crossed my arms over my chest and forced my gaze away from those great tits. “How big of a boost are we talking about? I thought you were on the honor roll.”

Summer sighed, playing with her hair nervously. “It’s not for me, it’s for my sister. She’s in ninth grade and not doing well in Algebra II. She has a C- average, and if she doesn’t get at least a B+, my dad will kill her.” She paused, blinking rapidly. Was she going to cry? ”She’s trying her best, but she’s just not good at math. She got a tutor and has done extra credit, but it’s not helping much. My dad accepts nothing less than a B, or the consequences…” She shivered, and I wondered just how bad it was at her house. Would her dad hit them? Or maybe I was reading too much into the now hollow look in her eyes. As much as I wanted to be sympathetic and cut her a break, I had my own worries.

“I have two options for you. Option one is a straight up grade change. It’s seventy-five dollars and won’t take effect until the final report card three weeks from now. Option two is a little more pricy, but it’s more comprehensive, and can take effect immediately.”

“What does the second one involve?”

“I go in to the teacher’s online gradebook and boost specific grades: homework grades, quiz grades, etc. If she got a sixty percent on a quiz, I’ll change it to a seventy-five percent. A missing homework? I’ll make it look like she did it and aced it. Just a few of each, but enough to raise the average. I’ll do one a day for several days, until the final. The teacher won’t even notice.”

Summer jumped down and wrapped her arms around my neck. “That’s perfect. I’ll take it!”

“I haven’t even told you the price yet.”

“It doesn’t matter. I’ll have the cash to you by tomorrow.” She jumped up and grabbed her backpack. “I’ll text you later! I can’t thank you enough, Grant! Seriously, you’re the best!”

And now for my review:
*Spoiler-Free* REVIEW: Inhale, Exhale by Sarah M. Ross
Publication Date: May 7th, 2013

*DISCLOSURE: ARC was provided in exchange for a fair and honest review

My Thoughts:

Inhale, Exhale is a sweet quick read about stepping out of your comfort zone, taking risks, and following your gut instincts. Jillian is a pretty innocent, normal girl dating a guy that she's been with forever. Grant is the smart, driven coworker that has a plan that doesn't involve any distractions. When they meet and with every subsequent interaction filled with flirtatiousness and sexual tension, they are met with an incredible temptation to throw away what they've always known.

While this story technically has the "love triangle" aspect, in many ways, it doesn't. Jillian's boyfriend, Christian, frankly, just doesn't stand a chance against the pretty perfect Grant. I have to say that he really stole the show for me and I was very moved by his story and all that he has had to go through. He's different from the common domineering alpha male I have read in many New Adult books lately. He's not hiding some deep dark secret. He's just a genuine, smart, funny, straight forward, always sexy guy. And I liked that.

I especially liked that the novel was written in a dual POV because I just loved getting into Grant's head:
In the last week, it was like my body and mind were on two separate planets. Neither was working with each other anymore. Not since Jillian. My head knew--this girl will mess up everything and suck away everything I worked so heard for with a single bat of her lush eyelashes.

My body, however, could give two shits. All it wanted was to be near her. To touch her. To think about her. My ridiculously stupid hormone-driven body craved her like a drowning man craved air.

I was screwed.

The Final Verdict:
Sarah M. Ross has created a sweet and lovely novel centering around good people that bad things happen to. With two incredibly likable main characters who interact with an explosive level of chemistry, Inhale, Exhale was an enjoyable read that left me oh, so satisfied with their well-earned Happily Ever After.

About the Author:
Sarah Ross started her obsession with reading at an early age, getting in trouble for sneaking BabySitter Club and Nancy Drew books into math class in elementary school. She would read any fiction book she could get her hands on. Sarah knew it was an addiction when instead of grounding her from TV or music, her mom would take away her books as punishment (The Horror!). Her love of all things paranormal was inspired by her good friend Laurie, who convinced Sarah that books with vampires, witches, and all things shifter were amazing. After a little reluctance, she gave it a shot with the Sookie Stackhouse books, realized she was right, and the rest was history.

Sarah grew up in Pittsburgh, graduated from The University of Pittsburgh with a degree in English, and taught 8th graders to love reading as much as she does for several years. She will always be a proud member of the Steelers Nation, but couldn’t take the cold and moved her frozen tush to Florida where she now lives with her family and two cats. You will find Sarah now with her trusty Kindle in hand and toes in the sand!

*BLOG TOUR* The Liberator by Victoria Scott - REVIEW + GIVEAWAY

*Spoiler-Free* REVIEW: The Liberator (Dante Walker #2)
by Victoria Scott
Published On: August 27th, 2013

*DISCLOSURE: ARC was provided in exchange for a fair and honest review

The Liberator (Dante Walker #2)
by Victoria Scott
Publication Date: August 27th, 2013

Bad boy, meet bad girl.

Dante has a shiny new cuff wrapped around his ankle, and he doesn't like that mess one bit. His new accessory comes straight from Big Guy himself and marks the former demon as a liberator. Despite his gritty past and bad boy ways, Dante Walker has been granted a second chance.

When Dante is given his first mission as a liberator to save the soul of seventeen-year-old Aspen, he knows he’s got this. But Aspen reminds him of the rebellious life he used to live and is making it difficult to resist sinful temptations. Though Dante is committed to living clean for his girlfriend Charlie, this dude’s been a playboy for far too long…and old demons die hard.

With Charlie becoming the girl she was never able to be pre-makeover and Aspen showing him how delicious it feels to embrace his inner beast, Dante will have to go somewhere he never thought he’d return to in order to accomplish the impossible: save the girl he’s been assigned to, and keep the girl he loves.

My Thoughts:

The Liberator reunites us with the motley crew of characters that we grew to know and love in The Collector. At the heart of the story, we have the good girl, Charlie, and the bad-boy, Dante. This time around, the good girl is still the likeable, kind girl that you remember, but she’s also pretty kick ass. Dante, is still the swaggering bad boy….but he’s struggling to define himself after the life altering events that occurred at the end of book one. He’s now working for the side of good, but how does one make such a drastic change?

This book, as it follows Dante’s point of view, is fraught with a lot of worries and struggles that had been absent from the first installment. Dante is suffering from growing pains in this book, and that’s pretty refreshing to experience. Not to worry though, it’s not all brooding introspection. There are plenty of cocky, self-assured witticisms and quips that we come to anticipate and expect from Dante freaking Walker. I have to admit, some of the one liners are so laugh out loud absurd, that I find myself thinking ruefully, “Oh, Dante…” And then there are those moments that are so endearingly romantic that I was "Oh, Dante" in a much dreamier tone!

"I don't want you to change. Since the moment I met you, I knew you weren't like me. You were better. You are better. You're the person I wish I could be. Your whole life...it means something."

The book starts out a bit slowly, but towards the middle, picks up the pace and canters off to a bang of a finish. The introduction of the new character of Aspen (not to worry, no love triangle here!) was wonderful. I felt like she was a perfect balance to the other characters with her fierce and endearingly sassy attitude.

The Final Verdict:

Once The Liberator gets going, it is a fun and engaging read. Victoria Scott succeeds once again in creating a unique, humorous, emotional, and smile inducing novel that doesn’t skimp on the action. Full of unexpected twists and turns, The Liberator left me desperate to find out what happens next.

*REVIEW* Jennifer L. Armentrout's ORIGIN + GIVEAWAY!

*Spoiler-Free* REVIEW: Origin
by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Published On: August 27th, 2013

*DISCLOSURE: ARC was provided in exchange for a fair and honest review

Thank you to Entangled, Liz Pelletier, and Heather Riccio for being endlessly fabulous.
Origin
by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Publication Date: August 27th, 2013

Daemon will do anything to get Katy back.

After the successful but disastrous raid on Mount Weather, he’s facing the impossible. Katy is gone. Taken. Everything becomes about finding her. Taking out anyone who stands in his way? Done. Burning down the whole world to save her? Gladly. Exposing his alien race to the world? With pleasure.

All Katy can do is survive.

Surrounded by enemies, the only way she can come out of this is to adapt. After all, there are sides of Daedalus that don’t seem entirely crazy, but the group’s goals are frightening and the truths they speak even more disturbing. Who are the real bad guys? Daedalus? Mankind? Or the Luxen?

Together, they can face anything.

But the most dangerous foe has been there all along, and when the truths are exposed and the lies come crumbling down, which side will Daemon and Katy be standing on? And will they even be together?

My Thoughts:

One word. SPECTACULAR.

Before the book even begins, I have to admit, that I teared up a little bit with a beautiful, yet simple dedication that Jennifer makes to her mother. Am I the only one who reads those? I love the dedication sections…

AAND then the book starts, and my emotions just keep on tumbling through me. Origin jumps right into the action. You remember that, excuse the phrase, sh*t just got real moment at the end of Opal? Well, you’re not left wondering for long and I would compare the start of Origin to starting out on a rollercoaster...at the very top of a loop. You find yourself at the edge of your seat and tumble through chapter after chapter at an incredible speed. Completely unputdownable!

This book is a stellar example of how truly gifted Jennifer L. Armentrout is at character development. First off is the new introduction of dual POVs to the series. While we’ve always experienced the story through Katy, we now get the pleasure of being inside Daemon’s head. Katy and Daemon’s alternating POV is amazing. Katy never ceases to amaze me with not only her strength and intelligence but also for her caring and kindness. Being in Daemon's head is, expectedly, incredible and allows us to see so much more of him than we have ever seen. He is such a strong character in so many more ways than just physically.

We are also reintroduced to some characters that you may love, those you may hate, and those that you’re just not sure about. New characters are introduced as well. And some of the places that JLA takes you with all these characters may surprise you. But in good ways.

The action and twists of Origin are insane and exhilarating. The trademark JLA moments of unexpected humor both balance you and throw you off-kilter because ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN. Decisions are made and everything changes in this book.

The Final Verdict:

As usual, Jennifer L. Armentrout doesn't pull any punches and at the end of Origin you will feel exhilarated at the roller coaster ride that you've just experienced: full of weightless soaring glee and heart/stomach-plummeting lows. Each book in this series continues to exhibit incredible character growth that in some series runs it course by book two. Origin is so different from the other books in the Lux series in the absolute BEST way and it is definitively my favorite installment yet. I can't wait to see what happens next, because in this saga, it feels like the possibilities are endless. And that's pretty exciting.

My Favorite quotes?

"She is worth everything"

"I'll burn the world down to save her."

"My hand shook as I pressed it against my mouth. Everything I'd said to him came back in a rush. And in that tiny second when I'd caved to the fury -- nothing in a span of millions -- I had changed, become something I wasn't sure I could ever come back from."

"She pulled back, her eyes searching mine, and then she reclaimed the distance, and, damn, the kiss was half innocent, half desperate, and wholly perfect. My grip on her back tightened as she tilted her head, and even though the kiss started out as something sweet, I totally took it there. I deepened the kiss, throwing every fear into it, every minute that had passed that we'd been separated, and everything I felt for her."

*Cover Reveal* FOUR YEARS LATER by Monica Murphy

Okay....I think this is one of my FAVORITE of Monica Murphy's covers....seriously...it's sexy, and fun and the models...sooo hot...um..just go look at it.

Without any further ado, here it is:

Four Years Later by Monica Murphy
Publication Date: February 2014

Guilt. That is all I ever feel when I think about my mom. Now she's back in my life, always wanting something. Having her around makes it so easy for me to fall into those bad habits that get me into trouble. Skipping class, smoking weed, fooling around with girls that mean nothing to me...I'm messing up. The last thing I need is my sister on my case.

So I keep my mom's return a secret. But promising I'll get my grades back up on my own isn't enough. Fable makes me see a tutor. And Chelsea is the smartest girl I've ever met. She's definitely not my type but there's something about her that I'm drawn to. She's sweet, she's shy and she seems completely immune to my usual moves.

Chelsea has her own secrets and she's not talking. Like I have any room to judge. How can I get her to open up to me? And will I ever be able to convince her that what we have could be something real?

BUT WAIT! That's not all! The beautiful, wonderful Monica posted this excerpt on her facebook yesterday! be sure to follow her to get all of the updates!

“Will you help me?” I clear my throat, hating how hopeful and pleading I sound. I don’t beg. If shit doesn’t go my way, I let it go.

But I can’t let this go. School, football, my sister’s approval…I need it. I want it.

“I am helping you.” Chelsea smiles, her voice soft, her eyes filled with this sparkly glow that’s pretty damn mesmerizing.

“I know. You are. Can you help me more though? Like with the portfolio and stuff? Maybe I can see you more than just twice a week?”

She blinks, looking at me like I’ve lost my mind for making the suggestion. “I don’t know…”

“I’ll pay you,” I interrupt.

“Of course you’ll pay me,” she retorts, making me smile.

Okay, my tutor is a little feisty. Good. I was hoping she had a backbone. “I just have a pretty packed schedule.”

“Tutoring around the clock, huh?” I lean back in my chair, curious to hear what’s keeping her so busy.

“Well. No. Not exactly.”

“Heavy class load,” I suggest.

“Definitely that.” She nods.

“Your social calendar is jammed with upcoming events.” I don’t even know where I’m coming up with this crap. “I’m guessing you’re part of a sorority right?”

She laughs, scrunches her nose. “Not quite. And no, I’m definitely not in a sorority.”

“Steady boyfriend who never lets you out of his sight?” Okay. I threw that last one out because I had to fucking hear it. Does she have someone? Even a casual someone? I’d like to know. Why, I’m not exactly sure because I don’t have plans on ever doing anything with this girl but I’m curious.

Her cheeks turn this rosy pink as she drops her head, studying my open file with rapt attention. I know it can’t be that interesting. “No. No boyfriend.”

Relief surges through me, which is absolutely ridiculous. I should not care.

“How about you?” she asks. “Do you have a girlfriend?” Her voice shakes on the last word and I stare at her, willing her to look up but she doesn’t.

“Nope. No girlfriend.” She lifts her head when I answer and I find myself momentarily lost in her gaze. Stupid. “Why do you ask? Hoping for a chance?” I smirk at her like the asshole I am because it’s like I can’t help myself.

She grimaces. “Yeah right.”

Ouch. I bet she looks at me and sees dumb jock, which is kind of right. She probably likes brainy, skinny dudes who study all day and never make a sexual move on her. They probably make her feel safe.

I am the farthest thing from safe for her, especially when I look at her and all I can think about is what she looks like naked.

*Waiting on Wednesdays* Nichole Chase's The Accidental Assassin

*This meme is brought to you by Breaking the Spine*

I may have mentioned before that patience is not my strong suit. I am very much one to enjoy immediate gratification, HOWEVER some things are worth the wait (she says reluctantly...).

I love love love Nichole Chase and she recently released a new teaser for her next release on her website! It got me even more super excited for this book! AAAANd, Owen, the male lead.....he's British. My weakness people!! *whispers* my weakness....
*ahem* ok, here's more about the book...

The Accidental Assassin by Nichole ChasePublication Date: October 1st, 2013

Synopsis:

Ava McKenzie is a creature of habit. Life is passing her by and she has nothing to show for it. She’s had the same job since she started college, she orders the same dish every time she goes to her favorite restaurant, and she only reads books from authors she knows. There is nothing new or surprising in her life… until her best friend marries a man from London. When her newlywed friend asks her to house-sit in England while she honeymoons, Ava jumps at the chance. This could be the very thing she needs to shake up her life. Ava throws herself headfirst into her new lifestyle; she wants to try everything, go everywhere, and never get stuck in a rut again. Of course, offing a man in a car garage hadn’t been one of the things on her list to try.

Owen Walker spends every day in a new place with a new mission. As one of the most renowned assassins in the world, he has his choice of marks—and he’s never failed to complete a task. When a new hit takes him back to his hometown, he looks forward to spending time somewhere familiar. What he isn’t expecting is to help an attractive, confused American woman find out how she’s ended up on a hit man’s list.

As Ava and Owen dodge bullets, will they be able to escape their undeniable attraction to each other? Or will all that chemistry blow up in a shower of hot and dangerous sparks?

Want a teaser??

The bathroom door opened and I practically fell into his wet arms. My body slid against his in a delicious tangle of damp skin that I shouldn’t have even noticed. The shower was still running, but he’d taken the time to wrap a towel around his waist. I looked up at him, water dripping from his hair onto my face.

“There’s someone here!” I whispered as I stood up and pointed to the front door. “And in the back!” I swung my arm behind me.

Without a word he turned around and dropped the towel. My mouth fell open at the view and I felt my head tilt to the side as he bent over to grab his underwear. The man had a lot to work with. He pulled the tight shorts up and I wondered why all men didn’t wear those.

Probably because they wouldn’t all look like Owen in them.

YES!! THIS!! I WANT THIS!!!

Hello dear readers! We're here today chatting with the lovely Madison Hill! You got to meet her as Mila’s sister in Courtney Cole's hit novel, If You Stay, and soon, you’ll get to read her story in the phenomenal If You Leave! But for now, let's get to know her a bit better.

Hi Maddy! Thank you so much for joining me today!

Thank you for having me!

I have to say, I was completely intrigued by you as soon as you walked onto the scene during Mila and Pax’s story. And, since I brought them up...How are things going with those two? I know readers are anxious about whether or not they’ll get to see them around.

Oh, my. Thank you! I don’t feel particularly intriguing, but okay. Pax and Mila are doing amazing. If you could see them in the same room, they’d make you gag. They’re all sweet and crap.

Hahah...okay, let’s get back to you though. You meet a pretty sexy bad-ass guy by the name of Gabriel Vincent. Can you give me five words to describe him?

Ummm. Brave. Strong. Fearless. Sexy. Amazing.

That was a pretty wild and crazy night you had there. Was that the craziest thing you’ve ever done?

Yes, that was the craziest thing I’ve done. I’m not usually that kind of girl—but I just wanted to go and pretend to be someone else…just for that one night.

Will you tell me something random about yourself or about Gabe? Something that no one else would know?

Gabe wears boxer-briefs. And we sleep naked.

*Sigh* if I had I guy like that, I'd say that would be my preference as well. *ahem* Yeah, okay, let's jump right into a little quick fire round!

Celebrity Crush? Channing Tatum

Favorite Sleeping Attire? Haha. Nude.

Your pet peeve? Rude people

Your go to comfort food? Hot bread

Your prized possession? An amazing family

The best sound in the world? A baby laughing

And that’s it! I hope you had fun, Maddy.....and hahah, I hope you didn’t mind my totally random questions! I really didn’t want to give anything away so I just wanted to hear some little tidbits from you! =)

Thank you so much for having me. This was fun!

Big hugs! I hope to hear more about you and Gabe in future books! You’ll nudge Courtney with that feedback for me, won’t you? *wink*

I’ll tell her. Haha.

And now for my review:
*Spoiler-Free* REVIEW: If You Leave by Courtney Cole
Publication Date: August 6th, 2013

*DISCLOSURE: ARC was provided in exchange for a fair and honest review

My Thoughts:

Much like in her first installment of the Beautifully Broken Series, If You Stay, Courtney Cole doesn't pull any punches and drops you straight into the storyline and into the action with If You Leave. I didn't think it would be possible to like this book as much as I liked Mila and Pax's story, but this novel absolutely blew me away and has stuck with me long after I finished the last page.

The name of this series Beautifully Broken could not be more apt. With this series, Courtney shows some very real and ugly truths in the world. Some serious issues concerning some very sadly damaged people. Yet, she also intersperses these times with lighthearted moments and bone meltingly sexy scenes as well. This novel reaffirmed my belief and my trust in Courtney’s ability to tell a painful story that is real for so many, and in telling the story, she is able to evoke feelings of hope and the belief that even in the darkest of places, there is the chance for a light to lead you out to the other side.

I absolutely loved both of these characters. Of course I have been known to constantly fall in love with these book boyfriends, and the honorable, stoic, sexy hunk of alpha that is Gabe is certainly no exception. But for me, in this book, there was something that really called out to me about Maddy. She too is broken. But just in different ways. There was just something so heartbreaking about her. Seeing her have so much taken away from her and so much threatened. I NEEDED her to have her happily ever after. I felt so ecstatically rewarded by the end, so full of pure, blissful happiness that both she and Gabe received their so well deserved HEA.

"It's like I'm not whole when I'm not with you. You're a piece of me. A big piece of me. And when you're gone, I can't function right. I'm only half a person."

The Final Verdict:
This is a book that truly struck a chord with me: resonant in it's beauty, haunting in its grim realities, and most of all, uplifting and vibrant in its message of hope. An immensely beautiful novel that I feel honored and blessed to have read. Courtney Cole has made a lifetime reader out of me.

About the Author:

Courtney Cole is a novelist who would eat mythology for breakfast if she could. She has a degree in Business, but has since discovered that corporate America is not nearly as fun to live in as fictional worlds. She loves chocolate and roller coasters and hates waiting and rude people.

Courtney lives in quiet suburbia, close to Lake Michigan, with her real-life Prince Charming, her ornery kids (there is a small chance that they get their orneriness from their mother) and a small domestic zoo.

*Waiting on Wednesdays* Monica Murphy's THREE BROKEN PROMISES

*This meme is brought to you by Breaking the Spine*

I may have mentioned before that patience is not my strong suit. I am very much one to enjoy immediate gratification, HOWEVER some things are worth the wait (she says reluctantly...).

And the world of the Drew and Fable series continues....It's Jen and Colin's story! And this one already seems just as sexy, emotional, and beautiful as the first two books of the series...
*ahem* ok, here's more about the book...

Three Broken Promises (Drew + Fable #3)
by Monica Murphy
Publication Date: December 10th, 2013

Synopsis:

Breakout New Adult sensation Monica Murphy returns with a hot new contemporary romance—a heartfelt story of second chances, forgiveness, and redemption.

Commitment. That’s what I really want from Colin. Ever since my brother, Danny, died in Iraq, Colin’s done so much to help me, including giving me a job at his popular restaurant so I can leave my crappy waitressing job at the strip joint. But lying in bed with him every night to comfort him from his horrible nightmares isn’t enough anymore. I know he feels guilty about Danny’s death, about not going to Iraq, but I can’t keep living this double life.

I love him desperately, but he’s got so many demons, and if he can’t open up to me now, then he’ll never be the real partner I need him to be. I gave him a month, and now I’m out of here. If he truly loves me like he says, he knows where to find me.

Want a teaser??

I don’t want to let her go. She’s going to leave me and I can’t stand the thought. I’ve been coasting through life, confident with the fact that she’s always there. Working with me, living with me, talking with me, laughing with me, and sometimes, in those rare moments we never talk about, late late at night when we’re all alone, crying with me.

Lying in my bed, wound around me like a vine wrapped around a trellis. Her hands in my hair and her breath on my neck, making me feel so alive I want to tell her how I feel. Tell her what she makes me feel.

But I’ve never had the courage to confess.

Now, she’s leaving.

Saying that she went to the annual Firefighter's Charity Breakfast for pancakes was like saying she watched baseball for the game--when everyone knew that you watched baseball for the guys in tight uniform pants.
