My Thoughts:

When we meet Ashton, she has run away from her past, seeking refuge in a small, charming little town. Motivated by a gutsy determination to cross things off her list of things to do in life, she finds herself caught up with a bone meltingly sexy stranger in a bar. What was initially meant to be a no attachments, one-night stand, through a comedy of errors, turns into a budding relationship that leaves her dodging attachments at every turn. The endearing and quirky Ashton has met her match in the sexy, sometimes infuriating, and ultimately swoon inducing Nathan.

There were so many unexpectedly funny yet random burst of humor throughout this book....

"Oh, you're naked," she said, stating the obvious as her eyes darted down to my morning companion.

"Yeah, we sort of went to bed that way," I teased, watching as a delicate shade of pink crept up her neck, staining her cheeks. "Does it make you uncomfortable?" I asked.

"What? No, it's just like, you know, 'Ta-da. Here I am.' It threw me off," she stumbled out.

"Well, for your information, this is pretty common for most guys in the morning."

"Really? How unfortunate," she said.

"Get dressed," I laughed.

Though this book utilizes the common story device of two people damaged by their pasts and weighed down with secrets, the ultimate turn of the story was unique and truly emotional and the manner in which the secrets are dealt with is both heartwarming and satisfying. I didn’t feel that difficult issues were glossed over and King really cut straight to the heart of some very real and painful topics. Most importantly, she addressed them with an air of hope and love.

The Final Verdict:

With this novel, King seamlessly interwove laugh out loud humor, melt your pants off sexiness, and chest tightening heartwarming moments with such skill, it made this book go by way too fast and left me wanting more. A beautiful New Adult debut that I would recommend to any fan of the genre.

Cathy, I’m curious. There’s been a lot of attention put on Lilaria lately and the recent discovery of Duchess Rousseau, aka. Sam. What’s it like for you having her as a new edition in your life?

Sam is awesome. I love everything about her; her accent, her sense of humor. She’s really livened the palace up. I don’t know how we made this long without her. Everything that made her think she wouldn’t fit, is exactly what we needed.

How do you feel about her and your brother, Alex, being together as a couple?

They’re perfect, right? I can’t believe she was so stubborn about it all. It’s a little gross at times, the goo-goo eyes kill me, but I get it.

By the way, speaking of Alex...he’s, uh, not around.....is he? *blush* Sorry, I know it’s probably gross for you, but I kinda have a crush on him. He kinda looks a lot like a young Chris Hemsworth.

Oh, don’t go there! Don’t ruin Chris Hemsworth for me! *groan* But, yeah. He sort of does. Okay. He really does. I’m so disgusted now.

What’s next for you? What do you see for yourself in the next few years?

I have a few more years at school and then… I don’t know. I guess working for the family business. *shrugs* Hopefully I can do some charity work that I’ll enjoy.

Any guys in your life right now?

No. Not that I care. *gets quiet and plays with the popcorn bowl* I think I intimidate them. Or, my family intimidates them, which is the same thing. And if he’s not intimidated, I think he’s after my title. I mean, we’re supposed to assume guys only want one thing, right? But with me, they want lots of things—and none of it really has to do with me.

Oh, hon. *hugs* You're such an awesome and lovable person. I just know you'll get your happy ending once you meet the right guy.


Do you think Nichole has any plans to write about you any time soon? I think you’d make such a fantastic subject!!

Oh my god, I hope so! Maybe I’d get a happy ever after or—heck, I’d settle for a great one night stand with someone that only wants sex. *looks over her shoulder conspiratorially* No strings. No trying to get in the paper or a royal title. Just sex. Maybe she could write that? I’d settle for sex. At this rate I’m going to give the Virgin Queen a run for her money as the Virgin Princess.

My Thoughts:

When I first saw the announcement of the Suddenly Royal blog tour, I was immediately drawn in by the cover. The cover conveys an attitude of fun and sass. The little wink telling me, “You won’t want to miss this book. If you do, you’ll be sorry.” Challenge: Accepted.

I’ll be honest, I wasn’t expecting to be blown away as much as I was. The story premise reminded me faintly of The Princess Diaries, but after I started reading, I was quickly disabused of that notion.

This is the book that I wish The Princess Diaries would have been, just for the older set!

I really and truly fell in love with Samantha, aka Sam. She’s feisty, loyal, an extremely likable. Then there’s Alex, aka Prince Yummy. Where do I begin....Alex knocked me off my feet, charmed my pants off, and made me fall in love with him.

I can’t fully verbalize how steamy he is....so I’ll let Sam tell you for me:

I shrugged out of my coat and that’s when I felt his eyes on me. Looking up, I realized Prince Yummy had indeed come for the dinner. Jess and the undergrads had been wrong. He wasn’t yummy, he was delicious; a feast to be savored. Dark blonde hair hung a smidge too long, eyes so blue it was like looking into the heart of a glacier. Built like the statue of David; the contours of his suit hugging every delicious muscle. Laugh lines around his mouth and eyes brought him into the realm of humanity, and gave him a personality. As his eyes ran over my face and down my body slowly, heat washed over my skin. When I handed the jacket to the maître d’ I felt naked. There was something about his bright blue eyes that left me feeling exposed.

*Fans self* But it was more than just his looks (which I imagine looks like this:

It was his caring, the way he takes charge (without being domineering), and they way he becomes someone Sam can rely on. And sorry, but I just have to mention....Alex is a man who makes dressing a woman just as sexy as undressing her. There are only a few book boyfriends that I think I would actually fight someone for. Alex would be one of them. *insert dreamy sighs*

The Final Verdict:

Suddenly Royal had so much of everything: quirky and lovely characters, a little drama and sniffles, a heavy dose of fun, and a whole lotta steamy sexiness. Nichole Chase concocted this well balanced recipe and created a thoroughly enchanting story that sucked me in and made me wish to be a part of this little world. This fun and heartwarming read went by too quickly for me, but I hope I get to take a trip to Lilaria again soon.
