*Waiting on Wednesdays* Wendy Higgins's Sweet Peril

*This meme is brought to you by Breaking the Spine*

My first WOW post! WOOHOO!

I may have mentioned before that patience is not my strong suit. I am very much one to enjoy immediate gratification, HOWEVER some things are worth the wait (she says reluctantly...).

Here's one of my most highly anticipated books of the first half of the year:

Sweet Peril
by Wendy Higgins
Publication Date: April 30th, 2013

Synopsis:

Anna Whitt, the daughter of a guardian angel and a demon, promised herself she’d never do the work of her father—polluting souls. She’d been naive to make such a vow. She’d been naive about a lot of things.

Haunted by demon whisperers, Anna does whatever she can to survive, even if it means embracing her dark side and earning an unwanted reputation as her school’s party girl. Her life has never looked more bleak. And all the while there’s Kaidan Rowe, son of the Duke of Lust, plaguing her heart and mind.

When an unexpected lost message from the angels surfaces, Anna finds herself traveling the globe with Kopano, son of Wrath, in an attempt to gain support of fellow Nephilim and give them hope for the first time. It soon becomes clear that whatever freedoms Anna and the rest of the Neph are hoping to win will not be gained without a fight. Until then, Anna and Kaidan must put aside the issues between them, overcome the steamiest of temptations yet, and face the ultimate question: is loving someone worth risking their life?

And because Wendy is just amazingly awesome, she posted these *super* hot teasers on her blog:

His mouth moved down my neck, slow, like a playful whisper. At the base of my throat I felt his warm tongue tasting me. I wove my fingers into his hair. When he raised his face to mine, our quickened breaths mingled. I took in the sweetness of citrusy pheromones, lifted off him by the breeze. Even sitting, it made me dizzy.
I tried to pull him, to close the gap between us, but he resisted.
“Tell me you want it,” he whispered against my mouth, transforming me into a puddle of desire. He groaned, a deep sound of pleasure and need, probably smelling the pheromones my own body expelled.

and another....

He’d hurt me plenty, and I refused to be his punching bag.
I wanted to stare Kaidan down, but when he turned to face me I was distracted by the girth of body beneath his face. I eyed the layers of muscle in his arms, chest, and abs. He was ripped! Was he living at the gym these days? His already toned belly now boasted a six-pack. Muscles didn’t usually do it for me, but I had to admit his tall frame wore it well. I swallowed and looked back up where he’d been patiently waiting for me to finish my perusal.
I cleared my throat and crossed my arms.

And last, but not least....

The look in his eyes dared me to pull away again. I sunk my fingers into the hair at the nape of his neck.
“I’m trying to talk to you,” I said.
“Yes, I know. But I’d rather not.”
In one step he had me against the table, the back of my thighs hitting the edge as he pressed his body flush against mine.
A whimpering gasp sounded from my lips.
I tried not to stutter, grasping his hair tighter. “I need you to be serious.”
His blue eyes scorched me. “Oh, I’ve never been more serious.”

*Teaser Tuesday* Colleen Hoover's Hopeless

*This meme is brought to you by MizB at Should Be Reading*

Yay! My first time participating in a meme!

Let me tell you, I like nothing better than a good teaser! It's the intrigue, the butterflies, the quickening breath of excitement. It's the, "I MUST DROP EVERYTHING AND GET MY HANDS ON THIS BOOK" feeling that I love. So, let me share....enjoy...and hope you find something that piques your interest.

Here's how to play:
* Grab your current read
* Open to a random page
* Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

He tucks his elbow under his head and I can feel him looking at me, but I keep staring at the stars. He’s way too close for me to look at him right now, and by the way my heart is already pounding against my chest, I’m afraid moving any closer will physically kill me. It doesn’t seem possible that lust can cause a heart to take this much of a beating.

You like that? I like that.....

This is a spectacular book. I just finished it this past week and will be reviewing it some time soon. It was so, so much more than I had expected.

Intrigued yet? Will you be reading Hopeless?

*Teasers* Jennifer L. Armentrout's Frigid

Wow. So the absolutely lovely Jennifer L. Armentrout, aka one of my newly favorite authors of just about some of the best series EVER (seriously, read the Covenant Series), has been busy at work sharing teasers and sneak peeks of her Gorgeous cover models.

Let me tell you, I may have done a little of this:

Meet Kyler (real life model, Adam):

HellllllOOOOOOO Kyler!
ahem, but really, here are the super cute/hotness that are playing the main characters of Kyler and Sydney:

Source: Jennifer Rush, photographer & author extraordinaire!

BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE! Jennifer the tease goddess granted us this super juicy teaser from the first draft:

Strong arms wrapped around my waist from behind. I was pulled off the stool and my surprised shriek was cut off when my back hit an immovable wall of muscle. I was enveloped in a bear hug that smelled of the outdoors and light cologne.
Only one person in this world gave me hugs like this or felt that hard… that good.
Kyler’s deep voice rumbled through my body. “When did you get here?”
My feet still weren't touching the floor. “A little bit ago,” I gasped out, gripping his forearms through his sweater.
“What the hell? Have you been hiding from me?”
Paul leaned back against the bar and grinned, but it was strained. Not that I could blame him. Kyler kind of always busted in and took over every situation. “I haven’t been hiding,” I told him, flushing when my eyes met Paul’s. “And can you put me down?”
“What if I don’t?” he teased. “You’re so little I could put you in my pocket.”
“What?” I laughed. “Put me down, you idiot. I was having a conversation.”
“Sorry, Paul, I’m stealing her.” Kyler backed away, giving me no choice, because there was no way I was breaking his hold. He turned, dropping into a chair nowhere near the table he’d been at, pulling me into his lap so I was sitting sideways. He looped his arms around my waist. “I’m not happy with you, Syd.”
I arched a brow as my heart rate picked up. He was the only person who called me Syd; the only person I let call me that without kicking them in the shin. “Really? Over what?”
“You’re talking to that douche.”
“What douche?”
He leaned in, resting his forehead against mine, and my breath stalled in my chest. Why must he always get so damn close? And he really, truly, always did. “Paul.”
“What about him?” I put my hands on his shoulders to push back, but his arms tightened, holding me in place. “Are you drunk?”
“Am I drunk? Aw, now you’ve gone and hurt my feelings, Syd.”
I smirked. “You don’t have any feelings.”
“Now. Now. That wasn’t very nice.” His impossibly long lashes lowered, shielding his eyes as he lifted his head, rubbing his cheek along mine. My fingers dug into his shoulders as desire twisted tight in my center. “I have all these feels, Syd.”
It took me a moment to respond. “You’re so full of it.”
He rubbed his cheek against me like a cat seeking a belly rub, and I fought the urge to purr. “I’m full of something.”
“Piss and vinegar?” I suggested as I desperately tried to ignore the way my pulse pounded in all the right places.”
He chuckled deep in his throat as he leaned back against the seat he took hostage. “Back to the serious nature of our conversation.”
“Which is: why are you playing Santa right now?”
Kyler’s lashes lifted and his eyes drilled into mine. “Hmm, now that sounds interesting. Have you’ve been naughty or nice this year, Syd?”
I opened my mouth, but nothing came out. My cheeks burned as his gaze turned knowing.
“I know what you’ve been.” He kissed my forehead. “You’ve been nice.”
My shoulders slumped. I didn’t want to be nice. I wanted to be naughty like Blondie. When she’d been in his lap minutes before, I doubted Kyler had been teasing her. Maybe I should scoop some ice up and see what he did, except that would require me doing so out of a random glass and that was just gross.

You like that? I like that.....

I'm very excited for this one! It's her first New Adult novel and it already sounds like a must read!

Jen has been tweeting and blogging more and more updates, so be sure you're following her! Be sure to also check out the photographer/writer who took that fantastic photo, Jennifer Rush. Hopefully she'll be tweeting more as well!

*Please note, this is the last book of a trilogy. So while this review may be spoiler-free, it may contain information pertaining to the prior installments. Proceed at your own risk!*

Synopsis:
The past few years have held more surprises than part-angel Clara Gardner could ever have anticipated. Yet from the dizzying highs of first love, to the agonizing low of losing someone close to her, the one thing she can no longer deny is that she was never meant to live a normal life.
Since discovering the special role she plays among the other angel-bloods, Clara has been determined to protect Tucker Avery from the evil that follows her . . . even if it means breaking both their hearts. Leaving town seems like the best option, so she’s headed back to California - and so is Christian Prescott, the irresistible boy from the vision that started her on this journey in the first place.
As Clara makes her way in a world that is frighteningly new, she discovers that the fallen angel who attacked her is watching her every move. And he’s not the only one. . . . With the battle against the Black Wings looming, Clara knows she must finally fulfil her destiny. But it won’t come without sacrifices and betrayal.

In the riveting finale of the Unearthly series, Clara must decide her fate once and for all.

My thoughts:
I only discovered Cynthia Hand's Unearthly series this past November. In a way, I couldn't believe how much I had been missing, yet, simultaneously, I was so glad that I wouldn't have to suffer an agonizingly long wait for the next installment. Those two months were quite long enough, thank you very much! Patience: it is not my strong suit.

What first drew me in to these novels were Hand's flowing narrative and the voice her characters. The books were beautifully written, from their characters to the settings, and everything in between. The characters, although most are of a divine nature, are so very real. I found myself caring for nearly each and every one.

At the lead, is Clara Gardner. Though she is part angel, she is also, at the heart of her being, a very normal girl. She makes mistakes, she falls in love, she just tries to find her way in the world. She also has a strength of character and an almost tangible ability to love and care for others that I find admirable.

“We’re all on Team Clara,...every single one of us in your corner...”

Speaking of love and Teams? I'm not often a fan of the love triangle, but my dear Cynthia Hand, she knows how to do a love triangle right! I was just as torn as Clara (and quite envious. By the way, how perfect are the names of Tucker Avery and Christian Prescott? *sigh*, but I digress...) throughout the entire series and by the end, I would have been happy to have her end up with either guy. I don't feel that Clara's choices and the paths that she took were a cop out in any way and felt a deep sense of contentment as I finished the last page.

Though it wasn't always easy to get to that point....see a little teaser:

I wonder if it’ll make him feel any better to know that my conversation with Tucker that night didn’t go much better than my conversation with him.
He opens his eyes. “It might.”
Good grief. Men.

The Final Verdict:

Boundless is one of the best final installments that I have read. It effortlessly balances humor and a depth of emotion that I had come to expect from previous installments. With unexpected twists and turns at every corner, Hand kept me guessing and fully engaged until the very end. Beautifully written characters pulled me in and made me a part of their world, one in which I wish I could stay forever. I take solace in the fact that I will be able to revisit any time I wish, something I fully intend to do. Do yourself a favor and pick up this series from the beginning, if you have not already done so!

Rating: Delightfully,

Less than one week until the third and final installment of Cynthia Hand's Unearthly series is released. And not a moment too soon, I say!

For those of you who are as anxious as I am to delve back into the angelic world of Clara Gardner, be sure to click the link at the end of the post to read the first FIVE (yes, I said five!) chapters of Boundless, complements of Harper Teen and Browse Inside.

I practically devoured the preview and my eyes are bugged out as a result. SO. WORTH. IT. I'll reserve judgment until I get my pre-order, but so far, Cynthia Hand has really delivered with a thrilling and heartwarming finale. I'll be both happy and sad to see it end. C'est la vie.
